The link between homework and achievement

14 May 2019

Professor Andrew Martin from UNSW talks about the importance of homework and winding back the dependence on mobile technology at home for primary aged children. Professor Martin rightly points out the need for children to develop good habits before they reach high school and while there is no direct link between homework and academic achievement at primary – it is the practice, the routine and the habit learned at primary school that enables a child to succeed later in their academic journey. Homework can be a burden on families and it can come at a cost to family life at times, but it is important to a student’s ultimate success.
